This app can’t run on your PC
Several users have received this message when trying to install iTunes, Lotus SmartSuite, Simple Assembly Explorer, AutoDesk, Daemon Tools, etc. But this message could appear for any app.
If you see this message, well the first thing you need to do is check if the software has some updates. Visit the software publishers site and ensure that you are running the latest version of the app. If you find that a new version has been released, download and install the new version. This should help. If t does not, there may be other things you may need to do.
1] Check if the program is meant for your version of Windows
Check it is meant for 32-bit or 64-bit. Maybe you are using Windows 32-bit and are trying to unknowingly run a 64-bit program. This is very common – so check if you are running Windows 32-bit or 64-bit first, and then install the app for your version. This issue can also occur if you are trying to run some old 8-Bit or 16-Bit app on your modern 64-Bit OS. It may have worked on a 32-Bit OS, but work on a Windows 64-Bit OS as it can emulate only 32 Bits.
2] Fresh-download the program
At times the download can get corrupted, so clear your browser cache and download and install the program again and see.
3] Log in with your Administrator account
Log in with your Administrator account if possible and see if you can run it now. Right-click on the app’s exe file and select Run as Administrator. Does that work?
4] Run the executable instead of the shortcut
If it is the program shortcut that is giving this problem, open its Program folder and see if you can run the main executable from there.
5] Disable your SmartScreen
As a temporary workaround disable your SmartScreen and see if it helps. Make sure that you enable SmartScreen again as it is a good security feature.
6] SideLoad the app
If you downloaded the app package, not from the Windows Store, but from another source, then assuming you trust the app publisher, you may need to SideLoad the app. One should SideLoad apps only when trusts them completely.
7] Troubleshoot in Clean Boot State
Perform a Clean Boot and see if you can run it. If you can, then you will have to manually identify and eliminate the offending process that is blocking Windows from running the app in normal boot. Remember to exit the Clean Boot State once you complete troubleshooting. I hope something here helps you resolve the issue. See this post if you receive a This app has been blocked for your protection message.
