GIMP is a great tool to edit vector and scalar images. In addition to its existing functionalities, it also supports external plugins to enhance its feature set. Using the Batch Image Manipulation Plugin (BIMP), you can also batch resize images in GIMP. We will find out in this article about the plugin and steps you need to perform to resize images in bulk using GIMP. So, let’s get started!

How to Batch Resize Images with GIMP

The very first step is to download and install GIMP on your Windows 11/10 PC. After that, you need to download an additional plugin which is called Batch Image Manipulation Plugin (BIMP). This plugin for GIMP can be downloaded from alessandrofrancesconi.it. Download it and then run the installer to configure this plugin with GIMP. When you’re done installing BIMP, restart the GIMP application. Now, go to the File menu, and there you will see a “Batch Image Manipulation” option; click on it.

In the new Batch Image Manipulation Plugin dialog window, click on the Add Images button to import the source images that you want to bulk resize.

Now, click on the Add button and then tap on the Resize function.

A Resize dialog will open up where you need to enter new dimensions i.e., width and height. You can enter dimensions in percentage or pixels as you prefer. Besides that, it also lets you customize the Aspect Ratio (Preserve or Stretch). If you want, you can also add padding to the image and fill background of the image with a selected color. It also lets you select interpolation technique and change image resolution. After setting up these image resizing options, click on the OK button.

Next, select the output folder where you want to save resized images and then press the Apply button to start batch image resizing process.

All your images will be resized in some time and will be saved at your pre-specified location. BIMP can also be used for performing a lot more other functions that include:
